Benjamin has had a relatively safe childhood, other than your typical scrapes and bruises from falling down as a tyke, he never got into anything horrendous enough to receive any scars to permanently mark his body. He does have a medium sized birthmark on his right shoulder.
While most would depict this sixteen year old to be insecure due to his mute nature, he holds himself with the utmost respect and pride. Perfect posture was expected from him at a young age, and has upheld it throughout his years.
Benjamin is no fashionista and his sense of fashion is downright questionable. His favorite print? Spots. Spots that resemble that of a cow. Owning multiple white sweaters, shirts, and sweatpants with massive black blotches. Never being one to gussy up, aside from his "unique" outfits, he is a teen who is comfortable in various colored t-shirts and jeans. There are a few expensive suites collecting dust in his closet however.
His right ear is also pierced, usually fitted with a small silver star.

At first glance, Benjamin is the poker-faced boy you've never heard a peep out of your entire school career. A teen who would much rather stick to himself than rely on anyone else. He proves to be a naturally mysterious figure, and only has one or two undeniably close chums. This however has nothing to do with Benjamin being socially inept or an overall timid child. His belief in true friendship, and merely trusting someone, is torn. Therefore, this hushed punk finds initiating (or partaking,) in conversation as useless.
When one is able to penetrate his wall of silence, they surprisingly stumble across an easily excited wizard who obsesses over muggles and magical creatures. While he isn't necessarily a chatterbox, he does actually speak and allows others insight on his thoughts, feelings, and personal issues. At this stage in a friendship (or any other form of a relationship,) he will become aloof with the majority, striving to break it off before it becomes anything meaningful.
Ill-tempered, it takes no more than a few jabs to rouse Benjamin from his usual tranquil demeanor. He is not one to outwardly express it, instead, he rolls his eyes, spins on his heels, and stomps off in the opposite direction. He's typically stuck in a rut the entirety of the day.
Whether it's a silent act of rebellion towards his demanding family or pure laziness, Benjamin couldn't give two Hippogriffs about school. Barely squeaking by, the only classes he applies himself in are Care for Magical Creatures, or any course Muggle related.
One may want to fantasize that behind the mute act, you'll find a romantic smooth talker just waiting to charm the socks off someone, however, Benjamin is the exact opposite. One thing his family couldn't program in him was eloquence. This sixteen year old often trips over his own words, and is vastly gauche in terms of social behavior. Sure, he's able to uphold a graceful facade, but that quickly crumbles when not under the watchful eye of the public. A clumsy kid who has yet to grasp the bare basics of witty one liners and flirtatious remarks.
Benjamin is the pure definition of affectionate, not typically foreseen in his usual frosty mask. A closer friend should be cautious when in the presence of Penrose. Hugs are a common occurrence as well as almost any other interaction that invades personal perimeters.
As one uncovers and sees multiple sides to Benjamin, they might encounter his fearful side, rats being the particular thing that can cause him a fit. Lucky for him, he's skilled in hiding his fear and appears passive. Usually. A fear of heights is present within him as well, but is much less intense.
Sadly, Penrose faces the problematic situation of his career path already being laid out before him. He is to be an Auror, just as his father, and his grandfather before him. The Penrose name stretches back years into Auror history. Another problem? His parents expect him to have a child as well, another Penrose to keep the Auror career spreading through their lineage. Having this continuously shouldered on him has left him keeping his sexuality under wraps. The only selected people who know are his grandfather and a few close pals. What he'd like to do? Benjamin never gave that thought the time of day, but his knack for magical creatures has him daydreaming about doing something in that field.

History
Bithplace: Penrose Estate | Current Residence: Penrose Estate in Brighton (opts to stay at Hogwarts during holidays and stay with best friend over summer months,) |
Parents: Yancy Penrose/42/Pureblood/Auror Summer Penrose/48/Pureblood/Unemployed | Siblings: Bethany Penrose/11 (would be 16)/Pureblood/Passed on before entering Hogwarts |
Others: Grandfather: Royden Penrose/76/Pureblood/Retired Auror | Pet: Beth, a Siamese Himalayan cat |
A week before the expected due date, Summer went into labor in the middle of a grand dinner party, an annual celebration they had to commemorate Yancy's accomplishments, an ego feeding event. The twins were ready to be brought into the world, this was made evident by how quickly the two little scamps were popped out. Instead of making any movement to rush to a hospital, the family took to a more dated method, having the kids smack dab in the center of the aging estate. Benjamin Royden Penrose was the first to be delivered with his fraternal twin, Bethany Elizabeth Penrose, coming in for a close second, the two only being mere minutes apart.
Throughout their childhood, the pair relied on each other for entertainment, and selected the estate grounds as their own personal playground. The bond between the couple was powerful, yet, their relations with family were increasingly distant, becoming more so with time. Yancy was too involved in his job - too blinded by ambition to pay any mind. Summer, albeit she had no current state of employment, she relied on house elves to care for the children. Hellos, good mornings, and even I love you became nothing more than a formality between the twins and their parents. Being inseparable, the two turned out to be quite the troublemakers. Opting for pranks, breaking expensive china, or letting their creativity fly by "redecorating" the drab walls of the estate - anything those punks could alter or destroy to pass time. Perhaps, it was a desperate call for parental love. That, or the twins were just rebels in training. Benjamin's fear of rats manifested in this period of his life, around the age of five, as Bethany was one to put them everywhere - his bed, the shower, and any other place one could think to place vermin.
By the time Benjamin and his sister could walk and spout out decipherable words, they had already undergone rigorous"training" on how to be proper figures in society, anything shy of posh was frowned upon, and you'd be sentenced to a lecture with old man Royden. Who happened to move in with his son and family when his wife passed on in a broom accident. Royden and Benjamin bonded with a blink of an eye, and he begun to spend more time with gramps in the library than horse-playing with his evolving sibling.
Bethany excelled in grace, wits, and eloquence, earning her favor in the eyes of their mother and father. Becoming less significant in his parent's world, young Penrose was allowed to slack off, allowing room to breathe and take life at a more leisurely pace. Benjamin and Bethany were still close as they aged but their personalities had morphed in different directions, leaving the two hardly recognizable to the other.
The rest of their early childhood carried on smoothly, without much of hitch. Things started to get rocky as Benjamin was being mentally prepared for Hogwarts, and the uncomfortable situation that would present itself by attending the school. He'd only known Penrose Estate, he only knew Bethany. Aging from his tyke days, the boy had become increasingly taciturn, only talking to his sister and Royden.. Summer Penrose settled on the idea of homeschooling the children, thoroughly confining the preteens and exempting them from socializing with any other children their age.
The winter before their eleventh birthday arrived, Bethany could not subscribe to sitting still, and developed a quaint habit of roaming about the estate's grounds. However, no one anticipated that it would be a life ending quirk. While maneuvering outside just after a wicked snowfall a few nights previous, Bethany carelessly slipped on a patch of ice, causing head and brain injuries. Before any kind of treatment could be given, she took in her last breath. Benjamin was staggered by the accident. Ice. Ice had stolen his sister with one frozen kiss.
Getting his acceptance letter was bittersweet. Anticipating leaving the house, but gloomy over the reality Bethany would never get to experience the moment. She'd been ecstatic at the prospect of attending Hogwarts, while Benjamin was passive. It seemed downright unfair. With his sister gone and unable to carry the Auror legacy, it was back to being thrust on Benjamin's shoulder. It was questionable if his parents even grieved over the loss of Bethany- if they did, Penrose saw no indication. He often wondered how they could still bare to reside in their current home. Bethany was in every nook and cranny - festering a hatred for the building in the young boy's heart. The chasm between his parents became wider, deeper, and the only peep he hearsout of his parents is when being scolded for whatever idiotic reason they have. Typically when Benjamin brings up any other potential careers.
The time to leave for Hogwarts arrived quicker than expected, his grandfather gifting him a cat on the very day. Naming her after his sister, he boarded the Express with Beth and mayonnaise in hand. On the train, he'd meet his current best friend - Krem Abbot. A muggle-born kid who stood before Benjamin, quaking in his robes. Turns out, the boy shared Benjamin's strange love for mayonnaise and bonded over that mere fact. Penrose would be deemed a Slytherin, whilst Krem a Gryffindor.
Krem, in fact, was the only friend Benjamin has made in his years of attending Hogwarts. They both sucked at Potions (often skipping the class together and earning themselves time out in detention,) and had a soft spot for the magical creatures of the wizarding world.
After Benjamin's fourth year, he decided to discuss his sexuality with the one person left in his immediate family he felt a hundred percent comfortable confiding in - his grandfather. To Benjamin's surprise, his grandfather was not supportive. Had he grown bitter the years since Bethany's passing? How had Benjamin not noticed? His main concern was providing a biological "heir" to their old wealth. How would they have a biological being to carry on their legacy if Benjamin settled down with a man? Royden turned abusive. Perhaps he thought his ways could alter Benjamin's? Somehow twist his thinking into his own?
Going back into fourth year, Krem was there for emotional support. Benjamin developed a strong passion for spectating Quidditch. It was exhilarating to watch Krem out there, but it also alleviated any stress or worries crumpled on his shoulders. The year went by, same thing as last year. Go to classes, possibly skip a few, and goof off together. However, on the last day of their fourth year, Krem confessed to having feelings for Benjamin. Dismissing Krem as confusing platonic friendship for the real shebang.
*** Benjamin wouldn't be lying if he claimed that the war was a nice change of pace. It added variety to his normally dull lifestyle. Sure, Snape was a man he wanted to sock in the face, and the twins made his skin crawl, but ultimately, it breathed life into his patterned ways of living. Sadistic, considering a war needed to be waged for his life to become moderately exhilarating. Benjamin helped in the war effort, standing by Hogwarts and his fellow peers through and through, but is by no means a hero in regards to the victory. His help was rather minuscule and he did not face the head of the battle. Still, he's proud of not ducking out when his family pleaded him to. A minor reason he did stay was to merely enrage his parents. While he by no means did not want to see Hogwarts returned to its former glory, it is a dirty little secret of his that he didn't mind the war while it lasted.
Going into his sixth year, Benjamin is curious to see if this will be another routine year, or if something eventful may actually take place within the castle walls.

Going into his sixth year, Benjamin is curious to see if this will be another routine year, or if something eventful may actually take place within the castle walls.
Amazing how one place he thought he never would be able to navigate through in a million years, was now memorized like the back of his hand. Albeit his odd sense of direction had him flipping his mental map upside down occasionally. Benjamin kept his chocolate brown eyes trained straight ahead. Glancing around would only distract the young Slytherin from his objective. Booming footsteps stopped him in his tracks, however, obliterating all current thought of what he was to be doing. There was no mistaking Krem's hefty gait. Too late to run? The thought raced through Benjamin's jaded mind, only to regret it immediately afterwards. Things had gotten tricky with the two since the Gryffindor confessed his feelings last year. A false grin was plastered on jock's ruggedly handsome features. Puberty, man.. Puberty had taken its hold of the meat-head standing confidently before him, making him unrecognizable to the Krem he met his first year at Hogwarts. While his mind had been droning on about puberty and how thankful he was for its existence, his best friend inched closer, giving Benjamin a look of ultimate despair. Eyes meeting Krem's, Benjamin's chest started to feel as if it was on fire. So much guilt was felt after just one peek at his pal. He had desperately hoped Krem would have forgotten about the past. Crestfallen, he should have known such wishful thinking would prove vain results.
"Hey Rose-" This is the part where Benjamin would normally interject profoundly, eyebrows furrowed in pure annoyance. Rose was his least favorite name to be addressed by, which he made perfectly clear, going as far as to punch Krem in the shoulder, mustering all the strength he had into one strike. Sure, it didn't effect the brawny Gryffindor, but it got Benjamin's point across. Deciding this wasn't the proper time for their usual playful manner, he merely shook his head briskly.
Inhaling sharply, Benjamin pursed his chapped lips. Krem was the only friend he had and he didn't want to idly sit by as he watched the best thing that ever happened to him crash and burn due to unrequited feelings. "Krem.. I-" Roaring laughter cut through Benjamin's words. A firm hand clapped his right shoulder, causing the Slytherin to jolt forward from the abrupt force transmitted through the rough action, almost tumbling face first onto the hallway floor. Staggering to his feet, he was about to chew the other boy out, but swallowed his words after glancing at his face, Benjamin's own features taking downhearted appearance. "Don't make such expressions," Krem shook his back and forth slowly, "It makes you ten times uglier," Benjamin frowned in response, eyes glued to the floor, defeated. Krem didn't want to hear it, didn't want to face the inevitable rejection. It needs to be said or things are going to be like this forever.. The notion made him sigh, the whole issue giving him a migraine. "I didn't ask for an answer yet, you know.." Benjamin lifted his head, eyes meeting with Krem's glistening emerald green. He almost had half a mind to laugh at the boy's face. Never before had he seen such a somber look on his face. It usually wore a goofy grin. It made him wonder, how many times had it been false? "Mmm.." Wincing at his own lack of proper response, he yearned to have something better to say, more meaningful, but any efforts to scrap together anything sufficient fell short. Flinching, he was shocked to look up and find Krem tousling his hair.
"Let's go before more people start to stare, hm?" Airy laughter arose from the teen's chest, "Always causing a scene, aren't you Rose?"
