TWO OF A KIND
Emmalia's breathing was soft, and quiet, gracefully, in some way. It was when she heard Midnight mewing and felt him playing and clawing her hair she woke up. And it was about time too. It looked about noon. "Right, thanks, Midnight." Emma said, stretching. After she was done stretching, Emma placed Midnight on the floor, then yawned. She looked outside; it was beautiful outside, but she saw people outside, playing around, hanging out with her friends. She wished she had friends, but being a bookworm, top of your class, did that to you. You never really had many friends, at least Emma didn't.
But Emma didn't exactly feel like going outside today, she felt like, maybe seeing her sister, Lauren Malfoy, who was in Slytherin. And then maybe she could send a letter to Jensen and then one to her mother. Then, after that, she could go and study in the Library Annex, or the Room of Requirement, or maybe go back to the Common Room and do it. "Okay, so I've basically planned out my day." Emma said. "Now, to pull myself out of bed." Emma muttered, standing up from her bed, and walking to the end, then opening her school trunk.
Emma pulled out a light coloured dress, a few shades lighter than parchment, with a medium greyish-green coloured pattern covering it. She stripped from her pyjamas and slipped the dress over her head, then dug through her trunk some more, and grabbing her tan leather belt with the fringe. Wrapping it around her waist, she fastened it off, and closed her trunk. She made her bed and then got onto her knees, looking under her bed, and grabbing a pair of black mary janes, with a higher than usual heel. "Perfect..." Emma said, after that, tying them onto her feet.
She then stood up and ran towards the staircase leading downwards into the Common Room. Her feet pitter pattered down the wooden stairs and soon she arrived at the very empty Common Room. "Like expected." Emma said, walking towards the portrait hole. She opened it and stepped out into the golden hall. "Alright then. To the dungeons." Emma exclaimed to herself. She walked past Ravenclaw Tower, where the girls from the other day were laughing at her, snickering, making comments about her choice of dress, or just making snide comments about Emma in general. Emma hurried her pack, and fast-walked.
As she walked, she approached the stairs, and quickly ran down them, not paying attention to where she was going. Emma then accidentally stepped in the trick step, and her foot got stuck. "Great... just great." Emma muttered, tugging on her foot. After ten minutes of tugging, she finally got her foot free, and continued down the staircase until she reached the Great Hall. "Alright, dungeons. Dungeons, dungeons, dungeons." Emma said to herself, beginning to walk towards the Dungeons, the Slytherin Common Room to be more precise. She soon arrived, after getting directions from a few portraits who surprisingly obliged,"Okay then. Now how do I get in?" She asked herself. Then Emma heard some laughter, and a few Slytherins walked around the corner. They knew who she was, they were in the same year as her, and she had lots of classes with Slytherins, much to Emma's dismay. "What are you doing here, Malfoy?" One asked. She gulped. "Um.. uh, I-I-I-" Emma stuttered. Her stutter always took over when she had to talk to other people. "What?" A Slytherin girl sneered. "Lion got your tongue?" She asked. They all laughed at Emma's severe nervousness. Emma hated it, their laughter."I'm- I'm here to see my sister." Emma finally managed to spit out. The Slytherins laughed again, and one of the girls disappeared inside of the Common Room, leaving the entrance open, but not for Emma to follow through. "Oi, Alexandra! Got Emmalia out here, asking for you!" She called. Emma gulped. "No! I-uh, I-" Emma stuttered. Then the Slytherin girl came back out with Emma's stepsister, Alexandra, who was always particularly hateful towards Emma. Then the rest of the Slytherins left the two of the sisters there, disappearing inside of the Slytherin Common Room. Emma gulped when Alexandra sneered."What the bloody hell are you doing here? Because I don't want to chat with my stepsister, especially as disappointing as you are, Emmalia." Alexandra said. Emma took a breath in, and held it for a few seconds before letting it out, and replying to her witch of a sister, no pun intended. "Um, Alexandra, I-I wanted to... um, talk to Lauren? Vis-Visit with her." Emma stuttered. Alexandra laughed in a mean tone, before glaring at her stepsister. "Your sister is out at the Quidditch Pitch, with her friends, something that you, sister, have failed to acquire. Such a failure."
Emma shifted uncomfortably under her stepsister's glare, before leaving, Alexandra laughing mockingly at her retreating figure. Emma increased her speed into a slow run once reaching the Great Hall, getting herself out of the Dungeons. "No point going to the Quidditch Pitch." Emma muttered to herself. Soon enough, she had gotten to the third floor, where the Library was. When Emma walked inside, she saw that it looked packed, and bit her bottom lip. "Ehh, people." Emma said, slowly backing away fromthe entrance to the Library. Then, Emma began to continue on her way, back to the empty, Gryffindor Common Room.
She could study there, no point of finding the Room of Requirement, when the Gryffindor Common Room was as empty as it was. "Okay, wand. Where is my wand?" She asked herself. She ran back upstairs to the Sixth Year Girls Dorm and saw her wand, her willow wood, phoenix tail feather core, 11 inch wand, lying on her neatly made bed. "Aha! There you are! Been looking all over for you!" Emma exclaimed, grabbing it from it's lonely place her on her bed. "Alright, time to study. I'll send Jensen and Mum their letters later." Emma then said.
Returning to the Common Room, Emma tapped her chin, while thinking. "What to practice first... hmm..." Emma asked herself. Then she saw her Charms book lying on the arm chair by the fire. She must have left it there while studying last night. "Charms, then, I guess." Emma said, grabbing her book from the arm chair, and opening it to Chapter 8. "Chapter 8, oh, love Chapter 8." Emma said aloud to herself.

Say goodbye as we dance with the devil tonight .As the light started entering her room Hermione mumbled something and turned on the other side annoyed a groan escaping her lips while she covered her head with the pillow " Damn" She murmured while she easily opened her eyes blinking a few tines until her vision wasn't blurry anymore. She rubbed her eyes and raised herself a little looking around the room her eyes still half closed while she scanned the surroundings with boredom ,scratching the back of her neck. When her feet made contact with the freezing wood a shiver went down her spine while Hermione crossed her arms at her chest. She had to get ready and get out of the room but the truth be told, she just wanted to stay in bed all day and play with her cat, Crookshranks.
A frown came on the girl's features while she started brushing her hair watching herself in the mirror, sometimes she couldn't even recognize herself and ended up starring at the reflection, she indeed lost weight, the bags under her eyes and her pale skin were just another consequence of her not sleeping at all most of the time. A sigh escaped her thin lips as she rotated a curl of brown hair on one of her long, delicate finger while she forced herself to smile the corners of her mouth curling, she had to look like she was ok or people were going to start questioning her and she just wasn't in the mod of responding and explaining herself just to end up at the nurse who probably would give her some sleeping pills.
Opening the double doors of her closet she ran her fingers along the materials inside her hand grabbing a red, large shirt and some blue jeans, nothing special or out of the ordinary but she liked it, she didn't care about someone else orthe opinions of otgers but herself, she was the important one, not them. After quite a time she finally got in front of the door taking her shoes on and grabbing a bunch of books from the table easily going in the direction of the common room walking up the stairs and throwing everything in front of an empty armchair before looking around and spotting another girl learning from a book she already read. A chuckle came on her lips while she throwed herself in the leather armchair and took the first book, potions.
"Perfect" She mumbled rather annoyed under her breath while she opened the book at the first chapter and rested her head on one of her hands the other one keeping the book tight while she started reading her gaze moving along the lines with boredom wondering if it was going to end and, when she finally finished the first chapter, she rolled her eyes now grabbing the other book but soon left it fall near her armchair while she dragged her knees near her chest wrapping her arms around them and yawning while she closed her eyes for some moments, she was just sick of reading and writing and learning, practically drowning herself in work just to avoid the people who cared about her.
Biting her lower lip Hermione turned her attention on the other girl her gaze now fixed on Emma's book. The girl narrowed her eyes and crossed her legs while she leaned against the table a little just to make sure she was noticed" Excuse me, do I know you?" She asked curious raising an eyebrow while she analyzed the girl trying to figure out who she was or at least from where she knew her, Hermione was already used to forgetting lots of names so it was the best to ask, she wasn't going to remember anyway. Emma jumped at the sound of thumps up in the eighth year dorm. "I didn't know anyone was here." She muttered. "Hello?" She called up the stairs. No reply. "Is anyone up there?" She called again. No reply. "Huh. Must be a house elf." Emma murmured, returning to Chapter 8 of her Charms book. 'Spell Name: Tergeo. Incantation: Tergeo. Pronunciation: tair-GAY-oh. Effect: Cleans up the target object or person.' Emma read. "Hmm." She muttered. She looked around the Gryffindor Common Room, and grabbed her wand from her pocket. The Common Room was messy, papers everywhere, wrappers from sweets from Honeydukes. They were all over the floor. There was even bits of glass from a broken jar near Emma's feet, that of which she had just noticed now. "Could use with a bit of cleaning up." Emma said to herself. She cleared her throat, and looked back at the spell, just to make sure she had the right one, then pointed her wand at the messy Common Room. "Tergeo!" She said. Then Emma watched in wonder as everything was tidied up and put back in its place. The papers were straightened up and flew onto the table in a neat stack. The wrappers from Honeydukes either flew into the waste bin or into the fire, and the broken glass jar repaired itself. She laughed. Now that the Common Room was straight, Emmalia looked back to her book, and immediately saw another spell that of which captured her interest. 'Spell Name: Aguamenti. Incantation: Aguamenti. Pronunciation: AH-gwa-MEN-tee. Effect: Charm that conjures a fountain or jet of clear water from the caster's wand.' Emma read. "Well that's neat." She said to herself. She grabbed the previously broken jar, now fixed, and muttered a spell that she had learned in her first year at Hogwarts. "Lacarnum Inflamarae." Emma said. A collection of blue flames shot into the jar. She then double checked the spell book for the water spell, making sure that she read it right. She hadn't heard the footsteps coming downstairs from the Eighth Year Girls Dorm, and down into the Gryffindor Common Room. She didn't see someone leaning against the table. So when the feminine voice spoke her words, her 'Excuse me, do I know you,' words, Emma was startled. "Aguamenti-eheheh!" She cried, startled by the sudden voice. But the spell had been cast, and Emma being frightened, had made her flinch. In end, Emma's wand pointed up at her own face, water bursting out of its tip and hitting Emma in the face. Luckily, she kept the jarred fire in place. Emma placed the jar on the table beside her, and stood up, blinking a few times to get the water out of her eyes, "Merlin!" Emma exclaimed. Her face was soaked, and her hair was wet, and dripping onto the top of her dress. Emma coughed up some of the water, hitting her chest a couple of times. When she finally caught her breath, she looked up at the girl. "What did you say?" She questioned. Then she recalled what the girl had said and shook her head. "N-No, I don't th-think so." Emma said. Then it clicked in her brain, she knew the girl in front of her. Hermione Granger, friends with Ronald Weasley and Harry Potter, she helped save the Wizarding World from He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named and the Death Eaters. And she was the top of her class ever since Emma came to Hogwarts. From Hermione's Third Year to her Sixth Year, which was from Emma's First Year to her Fourth Year, Emma had looked up to Hermione Granger. Her Fifth Year changed. Emma was always the smartest in her own year, Hermione being her inspiration, but when Emma went into her Fifth Year, everything changed. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named took over Hogwarts, and Emma's grades dropped. It was a frightening time period, and during it, she wasn't as academically advanced. But Emma had totally forgotten about her inspiration this year, those two years, because of everything that had happened. Her academic side then kicked in, and Emma lost her stutter, at least for then. Whenever the Battle was brought up, or Academics, Emma was always at her best when ever Emmalia were to talk. "But I know you, Hermione Granger. I'm Emmalia Malfoy? I fought with my sister during the Battle. My brother, Jensen, he fought to. We are the only three Malfoys to become Gryffindor? Well, we are disowned Malfoys. And it's just me in Gryffindor now. My sister, Kaitlyn, she, um, died during the Battle. You know what, never mind. But, I am the smartest in my year, Sixth." Emma said. Then Emma mentally face palmed. 'Hermione probably doesn't care.' Emma thought. "Because you inspired me to-" She cut herself off. "Never mind." Emma was telling the truth though, Hermione had inspired her. But that wasn't the whole thing. She was also inspired by her ruthless stepfather. She had thought that maybe, if Emma was the best in her year, every year, that he wouldn't be so cruel, but she had been wrong, but the habit of studying so much, and thinking about school, and nothing but school, stuck. "I'm going to shut up, now." She told Hermione. The grabbed her wand off of the armchair and recast the Aguamenti spell to put the blue bell flames out.
